Default 2 Ranger questions.

I have 2 Questions regarding my ranger i have recently made for Role playing.

1) Which would be the best Upgrades to put on my bow....I.E. 20/20 Bowstring or 33% Poison duration. I'm sure that the +30 hp and 15^50 are a def but as i said i am not so sure about which bowstring to use.

2) Which runes + Insignias would you recommend for my ranger would you go for more energy or more health or just general attribute raising such as marksmanship etc?... Or maybe even some of each to even it out.

Thanks

1) 20/20
2) just go for druids armour and... well ya the runes depend on what you'll be needing your ranger

Radiant or Survivor Insignias with a Zealous String for Barraging or otherwise Sundering in other cases.

It depends on what you are going to be doing for interrupting I suggest a crippling string on a recurve bow.

Sundering is terrible if you're running a build that's actually worth running. You'll want a Poisonous or Crippling bow, and perhaps a Vampiric or Zealous one for Barrage/Volley.

Personally I run Survivor insignia. 25 Energy is plenty. If its not, your build needs help or you need more Expertise.

Crippling, Poisonous or Vampiric strings, the latter is more generally useful, but needs switching to a non-vampiric alternative in between fights.

I ran an elemental bow string, Firey, Shocking, Ebon, Icy.

Im really not too sure why though lol

I agree with Amy though, I have a number of different bows with different strings. Normally just hit F9 and double click it ^^ They really need to make more weapon slots.

As for Insignia's I went all survior's, Rune's all minor ^^

I have a ton of bows, in my 4 weapon sets there is always atleast 1 Vamp, a Posion, and a recurve, The string on the recurve is not important, its for interupting, not dmg or degen, however my main recurve is posion.

If your PvE a crippling is not so much important. Monsters don't kite so well in the first place, in the second they are easy enough to kill in a few secs to even worry about crippling them.

I have a few of each type of armor to have runed differently for the build I need. The mask being the most important. Certainly you need a Vigor rune, then your attributte Runes. back in the day the incription was radiant/Druids, so go with that.

If you guys are barraging with a zealous you got something wrong with your build. Seriously, If I barrage I run a 9 in Exp and never have an issue, that includes runing the splinter or Brutal on top. Vamp or Sunder with barrage.

If your doing the Barrage thing (with or with splinter/brutal flavorings) then a vamp or Sundering will do you well.

If your wanting to spread conditions around then use a string that adds length to that condition....Daze, Bleed, Poison, Crip. Also if your running as a main interrupter...then the recurve bow is the one to use as it has the fastest flight speed. On my main Ranger I primarily use a recurve, but also keep a LB in there for distance/pulling and a short for IAS when the fit hits the shan

Hope you have fun

I may be odd, but I almost never use a poisonous mod on my bow.

I'd prioritise a crippling recurve and a crippling or poisonous longbow.

Probably an elemental damage flatbow of enchanting for conjure/barrage and Judge's Insight/barrage as well, for PvE.

A Zealous and a Vampiric bow aren't bad moves either, for certain builds.

An Ebon short bow or recurve bow for Ebon Dust Aura can be a nice thing to have too.

Barbed and Poisonous recurves are a nice choice, but I'd rank them after crippling - Crippling Shot only gives a 6-7 second cripple usually, and the 33% is much handier there than on the poison. I've got a Silencing recurve as well, but I seldom use it, as the daze times are quite generous for ranger attacks.

I'd only bother with Sundering for my heroes, as they're too dumb to weapon swap - Sundering simply does less damage than Vampiric, so if you want damage you bring vamp and weapon swap off of it to avoid degen in down time.

I dont understand why people post these types of questions...(this one twice even in another thread)...differnt people will give you differnt answers...it all comes down to what works for you and your playstyle. there really is no absolute right or wrong....if it works for you go with it...if it dosent work then try something else....what works for me might not work for you.....I also find it funny how many people post answeres that they are just positive are the only answer and have some one else post right behind them with an exact opposite answer!!!!

If you're running Crippling Shot - Crippling String
(if running Pin Down just switch to crippling bow to shoot, then switch back)

If you're running Apply Poison in an area with lots of targets, or if you have low wilderness survival - Poisonous Bow String

If you're running some sort of rapid fire damage build, ex. Glass Arrows, Kindle/Conjure, with Needling and Dual Shot/Quick SHot/Triple Shot -- Vampiric String

If you're running Splinter Barrage/Volley -- Zealous

If you're using BHA or Concussion Shot on bosses or targets that take a long time to die - Silencing String

If none of the above apply:
If you plan on attacking constantly: Vampiric
Else: Sundering

For insignia just stick Survivor's on everything. I generally run a major in PvP to get the 14 expertise breakpoint so the extra health helps to offset that.
